Zygmunt Lubicz-Zaleski is arrested in Grenoble. He is deported to Buchenwald.

During an SS raid on the University of Strasbourg, relocated in Clermont-Ferrand, Polish students and lecturers are arrested and deported to Buchenwald. Stanisław Mrozik is late that day. He sees German soldiers but none of his Polish friends, and flees. Zdzisław Maszadro is not so lucky and is deported. He survives.
