From 4 to 11 January
The Yalta Conference. Churchill, Roosevelt and Stalin set the new Polish border to the east - without consulting Poland - and decide that the USSR will occupy the eastern part of Germany. As a result, Poland comes under Soviet influence.

17 January
The Red Army enters Warsaw.

23 March
Józef Mroziński, a student from 1941-1943, joined the Royal Air Force. He was shot down over Germany in his Lancaster bomber.

March
Spring 1945 - On his return from the camp, Zygmunt Lubicz-Zaleski, sensing difficulties in his relations with the new Polish authorities, tries to found a new school near Paris, to which the Polish high school in Villard could be transferred, without success.

8 May
Allied victory, end of the Second World War in Europe.
Six million Polish citizens died, including three million Jews.

9 May
The high school celebrates victory over the Germans with cries of "Long live the Most Serene Republic of Poland", and expresses its loyalty to the government in exile and its principles.

28 June
The Provisional Government of National Unity (TRJN) is formed in Poland. The communists hold key positions.

29 June
France, and then the other allies, recognise the new Polish government and withdraw their recognition of the Polish government in exile.

First session of the matura/baccalaureate.

October
The school year starts with two hundred and twenty students, including one hundred and forty-seven girls. Second session of the matura/baccalaureate: 27 recipients for the two sessions.
