"Villard at that time had become a semi-abandoned town. And then two hundred high-spirited young Poles arrived, in good health, full of energy and imagination, accompanied by a group of distinguished yet lively middle-aged men and women, to create an improbable Polish school. None of these foreigners doubted for a moment that Hitler would be defeated and that Poland would be reborn from the school. They expressed this certainty forcefully, through their words and their actions.

Exhibitions • 2021
This was inaugurated on 20 November 2021 at the Maison du Patrimoine (Heritage Centre) in Villard-de-Lans. More than an exhibition, Foyer des libertés is a permanent museum space in the heart of the village in the former town hall, a short distance from the Château that once housed the Polish high school.
