Le Chateau de Villard-de-Lans (The Château de Villard-de-Lans)
The “eventful saga” of a landmark building in the town center. A 15-minute documentary produced by the municipality of Villard-de-Lans and directed in 2020 by Geneviève Rouillon — Vercors TV.
The château has been part of Villard-de-Lans' heritage since the 18th century. This house of notable figures saw wings added in the 19th and 20th centuries. It became the Hôtel du Parc et du Château in 1929 and housed a Polish high school during the war. After becoming a hotel again after the war, the buildings were sold to the city of Avignon in 1962. It set up its summer camps there. In 2000, the municipality acquired the buildings. In 2008, the hotel wing was demolished. And in 2020, the château regained its original beauty and once again became one of the highlights of the town center, welcoming visitors from another century.
